April 1998
Still living in
Bucharest, Romania. Went round the "House of the People", the 2nd biggest building in the world, and have got my entrance ticket in my travel book. Also went to Connex offices at City Business Centre (CBC)

May 1998
Bucharest, Romania Went to Connex offices for the day, then went to see the opera "Carmen" at the National Romanian Opera House, then went to "Sydney" bar for a meal and a quick beer.

Royston, Hertfordshire, England Flew home at what was supposed to be the end of my assignment

Bucharest, Romania Flew back to Bucharest as my assignment was extended by one month. Went to collect my stuff from the apartment at 81 Aurel Vlaicu and then went to the Hilton for 2 nights. For the rest of the assignment, I flew to Bucharest on Tuesdays, and returned home on Thursdays.

Bucharest, Romania Stayed at the Lido Hotel, which had a cold bedroom and the heating didn't seem to work at all. The restaurant was nicer than the one at the Hilton Hotel, because it was smaller and more old fashioned with a bit of character

June 1998
Bucharest, Romania Last trip to site, as the job has been handed over to the next person. Flew home for the last time on 4th June and was given a little goodie bag by the British Airways flight attendant - some Champagne and Drambuie!

August 1998
London, England Went to the Aldwych Theatre to see "Whistle down the wind" which is the new musical by Andrew Lloyd-Webber

Barley, England Walked across the fields with my two puppy friends, Lucky and Hollie. Sat in the garden and had a pub lunch in the sunshine and then took a slow walk home. Watched a Spitfire aeroplane doing aerobatics as we made our way home

September 1998
Brightlingsea, Essex, England Went to stay on my friend Neal's new boat, Pippa II but we couldn't go out to sail because it was too windy, so we had a meal in the yacht club instead

October 1998
Marmaris, Turkey Drove to Luton airport and then flew to Damman airport in Turkey. Took a coach from there to Marmaris to stay at the Sultan Appartments

While we were there, we went round the bazaar in the town, and looked at all the carpets, sportswear and leather goods

We went on the dolmus taxis, took a water taxi to Icmelar and that evening there was a trip to a proper Turkish bath, where you go in a steam room, then get a soapy rub down and finally a massage. I decided not to go in, because my fur would get all matted, so no pictures! I went round the Turkish Delight factory though - yum, yum. The next day we went scuba diving, but the water was a bit cold for me and they didn't have a small enough wet suit, so I watched and wrote my diary up instead. The day after that, we took a trip on a boat in the area where they filmed the "African Queen", then went to some smelly mud baths, then on to Turtle Beach. Next day was a quiet day round the town, but the Turkish night entertainment had a male belly dancer. Friday saw us in the market place and the bazaar for the last time, and on Saturday we had to fly home. Turkey was lovely
